Improving Urologic Cancer Care
with Artificial Intelligence Solutions

Hellenic Cancer Federation

ELLOK is a patient-led non-profit organisation with 52 members from Cancer Patient Associations, representing various cancers and regions across the country, and has a comprehensive understanding of the diverse landscape of cancer care in Greece. The organisation's overarching aim is to realise a vision of comprehensive, timely, and affordable cancer care for all patients, encompassing stellar diagnosis, treatment, psycho-social support, and survivorship care, which extends to rehabilitation and seamless reintegration into social life. ELLOK's multifaceted approach extends beyond its national focus, as it actively participates in EU-funded research projects that aim to bridge the gap between researchers and patients, fostering a collaborative environment in which the lived experiences of individuals with cancer inform and shape the trajectory of scientific exploration.

Role within COMFORT

Within the COMFORT project, ELLOK contributes to ensuring that the development and implementation of AI-based decision-support tools are patient-centred, understandable, and aligned with the needs of cancer patients. ELLOK represents the perspective of patients and patient organizations, supporting the integration of patient experience into the design and evaluation of the COMFORT multimodal AI models. Through its involvement, ELLOK helps identify patients’ expectations, concerns, and trust-related factors regarding the use of artificial intelligence in cancer care. ELLOK also contributes to patient engagement and dissemination activities, including participation in workshops and stakeholder meetings, particularly in Greece, where direct feedback from patients and healthcare professionals is collected. This input supports the development of AI tools that are accessible and meaningful for end users. In addition, ELLOK helps communicate COMFORT’s objectives and results to patient communities and the wider public, thereby increasing awareness and acceptance of AI-supported healthcare solutions.
